how I got started
In September of 2012 I wanted to make a lot of money. After talking about many ideas with my daddy, we thought it would be good to run a gum and candy business.
market research
We went to different laundry mats and grocery stores to do our research. Daddy used his phone to keep track of the level of the gum and candy left over in the machines at the laundry mats and stores. We decided that the less the amount of gum and candy in the machines, the better that gum or candy must be selling.
I thought skittles was the best!
I saved my money from doing chores and from Birthday and Christmas for the next 18 months so I could buy my gumball machines.
Here I am (above) with my very first machine before I filled it with gum.
Daddy watched while I put it all together. Four machines on a steel rack. I had to build the steel rack too. Then we put the gum and candy in the machines. We tested each machine. Then the best and hardest part for me was to wait for people to come and buy the gum and candy.
